The J170 is a development from the Calypso and the J160 which is a certified training aircraft in Australia. The fuselage was widened and deepened by 4" to give more elbow and head room so it is quite spacious. The landing gear is standardized with the larger J200/400 series so it is very robust. Wing tanks are now standard so baggage volume is greatly increased. A new cowl design with larger spinner and 2" prop hub extension for more streamlining and body and wing fairings have been redesigned.
